Come join Dr. Rabindra Watson, Gastroenterologist and Director of Bariatric and Interventional Endoscopy at UCSF & CPMC and Kristi Nakayama, Reiki Master of Nori Reiki, to unravel the mysteries of the mind-gut connection. Dr. Watson and Kristi will talk about how mental health, negative self-talk and limiting beliefs impact your mood, gut health, and even the choices you make. They'll dive into how breakthroughs in your gut health and management of GI diseases can occur when you first attend to your thoughts, mental health, and connection to spirituality. You'll learn about what the energetic body is and how your thoughts, emotions and traumas that get stored in your energetic body can impact your energetic health and gut health. To close, you'll be led through a guided meditation + Reiki and visualization to promote deep relaxation and help open blockages to promote an optimal healing environment within your body.

Dr Watson is the Director of Bariatric Endoscopy of the Interventional Endoscopy Services department at California Pacific Medical Center. He is recognized nationally as a leader in bariatric endoscopy and is passionate about helping patients achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle. He is active in the development and testing of novel therapeutic endoscopic techniques which include primary endoscopic therapies for obesity, endoscopic treatment of weight regain following bariatric surgery, and treatment of post-surgical complications. He is recognized as a key opinion leader in interventional endoscopy and has lectured throughout the country and internationally, and has served as a consultant to several start ups and leading device technology companies. 

Dr Watson’s additional interests include the interplay between the mind, gut and health. He recognizes the critical role our guts and microbiome play in health and chronic disease, and believes the gut in central to our sense of well-being. Raised as a Buddhist and an avid meditator, he is passionate about educating patients on the importance of caring for our minds and bodies through mindfulness-based stress reduction practices and adoption of a gut friendly diet centered on whole plant based foods.

Intro to Energy Healing + Guided Meditation with Reiki

If you've ever been curious about energy healing and how to bring mindfulness, healing and trauma release into your own hands, this Intro to Energy Healing & Reiki course will teach you the basics of your body's energetic system and the effect your mental and emotional health has on your physical well-being. Kristi Nakayama of Nori Reiki, will teach you why it's just as important, if not more, to take care of your energetic body as it is your physical or mental health. You'll learn how to connect your emotional health (e.g. stress, negative thoughts, limiting beliefs) with how that impacts your energetic body (e.g. chakra blockages) and manifests as physical dysfunctions throughout your body (e.g. chronic pain, anxiety, depression, heart disease, weight gain etc.). Kristi will provide techniques you can do on a daily basis to keep your energetic body open and how to clear blockages that prevent you from thriving at home, work and in your personal relationships. You'll also learn how energy healing and Reiki puts your body into an optimal relaxed state so that your body can do what it does best and without restrictions - heal itself!

You'll then be guided through a relaxing meditation with Reiki to relax and restore areas in your body you identified in class may be blocked energetically! Wear something comfortable, bring a notebook and pen and blankets if you'd like for the guided meditation with Reiki portion.

Yin (Restorative) Yoga + Distant Reiki Healing

Join for an introduction to your body’s 7 energy centers (aka “chakras). No background on yoga, chakras or energy work necessary for this relaxing and restorative class. You’ll be guided through 7 different relaxing and chakra opening and prop supported positions (pillows, blankets, towels, blocks, bolster if you have one). Kristi will guide you through the healing benefits of opening each chakra on your physical body, as well as your mental, spiritual and emotional health.

This is a great way to start 2021!!! You’ll feel open, restored and relaxed like jello, plus you’ll have tips to return to on how to open your different chakras anytime you’re feeling out of harmony with any of your 7 energy centers.

Everyday stress management is hard to do, especially with the demands of managing work-life or school-life balance in our new, virtual world. Reiki self-treatment is a powerful tool to reduce stress, anxiety, depression, help boost the immune system and improve your overall physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health.

Self-treatments can be as quick as 5-minutes as an addition to your morning routine, or mid-day prior to an important meeting or presentation. Treatments may be longer as needed to feel your body relax or lower your blood pressure when an anxiety episode hits. The benefits of Reiki are many and if you’re reading this, you’ve experienced Reiki treatments already or you’re new to Reiki and you’re curious about what Reiki can do for you.

In this class you’ll learn how to give yourself self-treatments. You’ll learn the history of Reiki, what the different hand positions are and how to conduct a self scan of where to place your hands for a treatment as well as how to perform a Reiki session on a friend or family member. You will be attuned, a term in Reiki work that means you’ll be connected to and opened to receive the powerful and gentle, Universal Life Energy of Reiki.

This is a virtual, non-practitioner class. A certificate to practice will not be issued at the completion of class as this is designed for self-healing and/or aid in the healing of someone close to you.

yin yoga + reiki

Book a private yin yoga + reiki session (in current times, I’ll be moving in-person classes to remote private sessions over FaceTime or zoom).

Yin yoga consists of a series of long held, relaxing floor poses that focus on opening areas that are especially rich in connective tissue (e.g. fascia, bones, and tissue). Yin yoga benefits circulation and flexibility, balances your internal organs, and relieves tension and stress.

I will lead you through a series of chakra opening yin yoga poses using props, pillows and cushions found around your home. While holding these very relaxing and opening positions, we will begin with a guided meditation to encourage mindfulness and relaxation. Then you will close your eyes and relax into the poses as I send distant reiki to the areas that the yin yoga pose helps to open up. You will feel very relaxed after this session, like a marshmallow as most clients describe. I encourage evening sessions for this so you can transition soon after to a restful and deep sleep.
